In Estoril,  on the 1st floor of the  Post Office, the Space Memory of Exile opened in 1999 in a building from 1942 and designed by the modernist architect Adelino Nunes. It recreates the atmosphere of these decades, through a permanent exhibition center consisting of archival material, photographs, objects and time reference material .

This space was created based on extensive documentary fund existing in Cascais Municipal Historical Archives, consisting of more than 60,000  lodging newsletters of foreigners in hotels and photographs.

Beyond the permanent exhibition, also consists of an auditorium, an area for temporary exhibitions and a library specializing in the history of the twentieth century and the theme of Exiles.
