Praia da Ursa is a wild beach located near Cabo da Roca in the Natural Park of Sintra-Cascais. A beautiful beach but hard to reach with bad access.
There is a pair of huge rocks that emerge from the water, in the north side and right next to it, a huge rock that seems the image of a bear.
The legend says that thousands of years ago when the earth was a huge ball covered with ice, here lived a bear with it´s children. When the thaw began the Gods said that all the animals had to leave the sea-side but the bear didn´t want to because this was her birth place.
The Gods were enraged, turned the bear to stone and the children in to small rocks scattered around the mother.
If you look carefully you can see the small family.
