
Medieval village built on top of an isolated hill 820 meters above sea level, offers a splendid view over the fields and hills around. This ancient fortified town fully recovered under the Recovery Program Historical Villages shows signs of human occupation dating back to the Paleolithic.
Although the seat of the municipality has passed to Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo the town continues to have interest grounds such as the main church, founded by friars Hospitallers in 1192 and dedicated to Our Lady of Rocamador; cistern, served by two doors, a Gothic and a Moorish, the pillory and the clock installed on an ancient tower.
