Porto Covo is a parish in the municipality of Sines, with 48.73 km ² and 1038 inhabitants (2011). Density: 21.3 inhabitants / km².

Here can be found the famous Ilha do Pessegueiro, or Peachtree Island, with its ancient fort.

The parish of Porto Covo was established in December 31st, 1984, detached from  Sines.

A song Rui Veloso  made this town famous and known amoung the Portuguese.
