The Fado Museum was inaugurated on September 25, 1998 and is a museum dedicated to the world of fado and guitar. The museum is located in Lisbon, at the Alfama district.
The museum building was originally a water pumping station, the pumping station to Arena Beach.
This cultural space is now a reference among cultural Lisbon. It has a permanent exhibition space for temporary exhibitions, a documentation center, a shop theme, an auditorium, a restaurant and the School of the Museum, where courses are given on the Portuguese guitar and viola Fado, and where you can attend a seminar for songwriters. The School also provides a test case for interpreters.
