				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The birds and fish fauna are of great importance in the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina.</p>
<p>Birds<br />
The park is an area of passage for soaring birds and migratory passerines transarianos in their movements between wintering areas in Africa and nesting in Europe. It is the last area creates the osprey in the Iberian Peninsula.</p>
<p>The nesting on cliffs and sea cliffs is a feature of the park area, especially the white stork, the peregrine falcon and the crow-beaked red. It only place in the world where storks nest in sea cliffs.</p>
<p>Among the birds are, among others, the following: osprey (Pandion haliaetus), cormorant (Phalocrocorax spp.), Blue rock, white stork (Ciconia ciconia), egret (Egretta garzetta) peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), kestrel, kestrel (Falco naumanni), crow-peas-red (Chough pyrrhocorax), blackbird-the-rock or blackbird-blue (Monticola solitarius), kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) kingfishers, chicken-in-water (Gallinula chloropus), raven (Corvus corax), blue rock (Columba livia), torcaz (Columba palumbus L.), gulls (Laridae), crow-beaked red (Chough pyrrhocorax), goshawk (Accipiter gentilis), hawk (Accipiter nisus), owls (Strigidae), owl, nightingale, goldfinch (Carduelis Carduelis), Montagu&#8217;s harrier (Circus pygargus), hen harrier (Circus cyaneus), curlew (burhinus oedicnemus), little bustard (Tetrax tetrax), lapwing (Vanellus vanellus), snipe (Gallinago gallinago), eagle owl (Bubo bubo), eagle of bonelli (Hieraaetus fasciatus), Short-toed Eagle (Circaetus gallicus), Hobby (Falco subbuteo), snort-small (Asio otus), rolls (Streptopelia turtur).</p>
<p>Mammals<br />
The mammals present in the park area include, among others: otter (Lutra Lutra), weasel (Martes foina), badger (Meles meles), fox (Vulpes vulpes), wild cat (Felis silvestris), Egyptian mongoose (Herpestes ichneumon) wild boar (Sus scrofa), hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus), the Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus), genet (Genetta genetta).</p>
<p>Fishers, foxes (also called dollies), badgers and the Egyptian mongoose (or escalavardos) are found in the dunes and cliffs areas. Badgers dig burrows in the cliffs. This area is the only one in Portugal, and the last in Europe, where otters in a marine habitat.</p>
<p>The caves, such as the Monte Cleric and the Yellow cave, are important refuges for bats communities (Chiroptera).</p>
<p>Amphibians<br />
Several species of amphibians breed in temporary ponds. Among others are the sapo (Bufo bufo), the sapo-to-nail-black (Pelobates cultripes) and the frog-of-warts-green (Pelodytes punctatus). These wetlands are also crustaceans such as cancriformis mauritanicus Triops and other Iberian endemism.</p>
<p>Reptiles<br />
Among the reptiles are, for example, the snake-Ratter (Malpolon monspessulanus) and the snake-lisa-Bordeaux (girondica Coronella).</p>
<p>Fish<br />
Water courses, bogs and marshes are freshwater fish that are Portuguese endemic species such as barbel south-(Barbus sclateri) and the Portuguese boga (Chondrostoma lusitanicum) and also a local endemism, the climb-the-Mira (Leuciscus sp.).</p>
<p>Offshore of the park are the species of fish and other animals in the usual north-east Atlantic.</p>
